During this learning pathway you will be learning about:
Session 1 – Emotional and Social Development in Infancy
1-2 hour to complete- Developmental norms, also called developmental milestones, refer to certain sequences and developments that are expected in terms of emotional and social development during infancy. In this session will we be learning about the expected or usual pattern of emotional and social development during infancy.In this session will we be learning about the expected or usual pattern of emotional and social development during infancy. However, it is important to remember that every infant will develop in their own way. Norms describe an average set of expectations, but if one infant develops faster or slower than the norm it does not necessarily mean anything significant.

Session 2 – Emotional and Social Development in Early Childhood
1-2 hour to completeBy interacting and developing relationships with others, children are able to build a sense of who they are. As children develop socially, they both respond to the influences around them and play an active part in shaping their relationships.

Session 3 – Emotional and Social Development in Adolescence
1-2 hour to completeAn important and often difficult concept during adolescence is identity. During adolescence, young people continue to develop their sense of self, a process that starts in childhood. An adolescent needs to develop a secure sense of identity to feel secure when working with other people, and in order to make a loving sexual attachment. A young person’s self-esteem is often determined by the development of their identity.

Session 4 – Emotional and Social Development in Adulthood
1-2 hour to completeAdulthood refers to the life stage that occurs from 19 years of age. It can be further broken down into:
